Chicago Movers 101: How to Properly Pack Moving Trucks
Aside from packing your items in boxes properly, you should also make sure that all of your boxes would be properly packed and loaded into the moving truck which would be used in transporting them. This is important if you want to have the peace of mind that all of your belongings, especially your valuable furniture pieces and breakables, would be secure during transit.
You can first make a sketch of the interior of the moving truck or van that you would be renting, based on the measurements that you get from the mover that you are hiring. You can then sketch where your boxes and furniture can go to inside the truck.
It is also important that to make sure that the mover has all the moving tools and equipment that would make it easier for them to load your items safely and properly into the truck. Some equipment that most established moving companies use in providing services for their clients include hand trucks, carts and dollies; however, there are some which offer more so it would be advisable to ask about the equipment that each company you are considering has before making a decision.
You could also ask the moving company that you would be hiring for suggestions on the best way to load a moving truck. They would most likely be able to provide you with information on what you could do so that your items can be loaded into the moving truck in an organized manner.
If you would be packing the moving truck by yourself, it would be best to have all of your bigger furniture such as your bed frames, cabinets and tables placed against the walls of the truck. Heavier boxes should be placed first on the floor of the truck, with the lighter ones placed on top of them. Doing these would make sure that all of the items would be properly padded and cushioned during the trip.
